Achiltibuie is under 2 hours’ drive from Inverness.

From Inverness take the A832 then the A835 north to Ullapool: a journey of about 1 hour.

From Ullapool take the A835 north for 10 miles/15 minutes passing through Ardmair and Strathcanaird. Turn left at the sign: 'Achiltibuie and the Summer Isles'. Follow the road until you reach Achiltibuie (approximately 15 miles/30 minutes) This is a wonderfully scenic drive through the Inverpolly National Nature Reserve. Quinag is the third house on the left after Achiltibuie stores.

The house can also be reached by public transport from the central belt – allowing for changes at Inverness and Ullapool.

Rail links to Inverness are regular throughout the day and from most parts of the UK. This includes a sleeper service from London.

By Bus

  • Highland Scotbus operates from Ullapool to Achiltibuie (journey time approx. 1hr)

Bus links between Ullapool and Inverness are mainly based around the Stornoway Ferry timetable so should be checked according to seasonal variation (please check on the links below). There is also a "Bike Bus" that runs to Durness and passes the turnoff to Achiltibuie.
